FROM STARS
2024
60" x 100"
oil on paper, yarn, wire, plastic sticks, push pin and acrylic on 5 foam panels

Made of 100 oil paintings on paper, the work The work is based on the process of star forming and dying to make up the complex elements that constitute the world we live in, explained in Kathryn Johnston's astronomy course Stars and Atoms. It explores the visceral and cosmic relationship between all matters, especially that with the human body. The images are of my own body parts, foodstuff and amenities like car wheels I find around me. Through painting them, I unite these discrete items with the corporal, gestural nature of my brushstrokes. A continuation and complication of me, others and the universe, from stars takes the details of singular items as metonymy and from here finding a grand interconnectedness.
